Hi-Viz - yes or no? Question

I still dont see a lot of riders with hi-viz. Some comuters wear it but the people who go really fast, the sports bikers, never wear them it seems!

Whats your view?

I agree that one day, probably within the next few years, that it will become law to wear one at ALL times.
It certainly nmakes sense but i have to agree that it does spoil the 'look' and therefore diltes the experience somewhat,

Saying all that, I saw these guys at the show and a Hi-Viz airbag vest is a GREAT idea and I am saving up.

    Aye, good shout fella.
Better to wear it at all times really though. I have a hiviz vest and always wear it at night.
just rolls up to bugger all in my pocket at other times.

Ah, yep, absolutely. I dress all in black with a dark helmet so I really need to get something to help with visibilty.
Mind you, I rarely go out in the dark as I do not commute so never feel the need.
A cheap vest for a fiver from Halfords would do the trip.

Agreed that they would probably help at night.

I ride with the light on high beam during the day. That gets attention more than a jacket.

I still see bugger all riders with them on.
    Its just not 'fashionable'.
    I am guilty as well.

There is that old sayung 'having no skin is even less fashionable' which is of course true but it still takes a seed change to get the average motorbiker to wear one. I still think they may become mandatory at some point - perhaps starting off with new riders and L platers.

    Hey it's election day :)
I don't know who to vote for, where's Jeremy Vine with his swingometer. I read an article recently which debated this and it wasn't conclusive even on the safety aspect of it. My gear has a lot of reflective stuff on it so no need for hi viz at night. My helmet is black with hi viz pattern which i think is very visible and at the right height.
Dunno. Maybe the HiViz Green Party??
